Our Process for ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNs

Our architectural design program was developed to get the most out of the creative process. It allows our designers to maximize their efforts, presenting you with the ideal version of their designs. It starts with concept development to first understand what is possible. From there, preliminary designs are created and refined through multiple design development meetings. With each pass, the design becomes more and more detailed. Once approved, we create permit-ready construction drawings, complete with a framing plan, exterior elevations, structural engineering specifications, and a lighting plan.

As-Build and Research

In the first phase, we gather all the information needed to start working on your architectural designs. This includes measuring for and drafting as-built drawings of your home that show the updates and alterations to the original designs as well as interviewing you to understand your needs and wants for the project and requesting site plans and civil drawings.

Design Development

The second phase is the longest and most active part of the process architectural designs. Our designers will work with you to define a concept for your project and then develop a preliminary design communicated through floor plans and exterior elevations. The design plans are refined during “live design” meetings, where your input drives the overall design.

Engineering

Once the design is finalized and approved, our team begins to prepare a preliminary “permit set” of plans as we engage with civil and structural engineers to provide foundation and framing plans, load calculations, and develop site plans.

Construction Documentation

The final phase of our process is to communicate the proposed architectural design through a complete permit set of plans that includes the architectural plans, structural details and calculations, and MEP or mechanical, electrical, and plumbing layouts. The development of surveys is also included in this step of the process if applicable.
